Katy Walker Mejia is an educator, mother, musician/filmmaker and entrepreneur. She has always seen herself as a multidisciplinary artist. In college back in Austin, she started off as an underground DJ, performing at SXSW and with local bands. She also collaborated with local start ups and also created video shorts. Her first short films were screened at the Dallas Video Fest, SXSW, the Red Hook International Film & Video Fest, the International Film Festival of Cinematic Arts, and the Radar International Independent Film Fest. In 2003, she moved to NYC.
Along with teaching, she enjoys producing, directing, editing, writing, shooting, composing music and designing graphics. Her first feature documentary film, Time is Art: Synchronicity & the Collective Dream (2015) was independently released, screened in theaters all over the world and is available in Amazon Video (US & UK only). She and her husband Joel also create genre-defying music together as Dream Circle which is also featured in their video projects.
She recently left her job as a Music and Media Arts Teacher in NYC to pursue greener pastures upstate to Kingston, NY.
